OCULAR THERAPY IN SJÖGREN'S SYNDROME USING TOPICALLY APPLIED ANDROGENS OR TGF-BETA

The topical application to the ocular surface or adjacent regions of the eye of a preparation containing a therapeutic amount of an androgen or androgen analogue or a therapeutic amount of TGF- beta is disclosed as a method of relieving the chronic and acute manifestation of dry eye symptoms in Sj+E,uml o+EE gren's syndrome. Measurement of the increased tear levels of TGF- beta is disclosed as a diagnostic test to monitor the therapeutic effect of topical treatment with androgen or androgen analogues.
