A vibration damper (10, 10a, 10b, 10c, 60, 74, 110) comprising (a) an attaching member (14, 76) fixed to a subject member (12) whose vibrations are damped by the vibration damping device, (b) a mass member (16, 82, 116) displaceable relative to the attaching member in a vibration input direction, (c) an elastic connector (18, 84) elastically connecting the mass member to the attaching member and cooperating with the mass member to at least partially define a working chamber (48, 48a, 48b, 90), and (d) means for defining a fluid passage (22, 101) communicating with the working chamber for changing a pressure of a fluid in the working chamber to thereby cause the mass member to be displaced relative to the attaching member in the vibration input direction.
