FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: body is positioned on platform with axis of rotation, platform is rotated nonuniformly within limited angular zone. Then instantaneous angular velocities of platform in its definite angular positions are measured, these positions being symmetrical about equilibrium position. This done, force moment applied is changed, and instantaneous velocities are measured again. Inertia moment is determined by above-indicated velocity analytically. Platform is manufactured with axis directed arbitrarily. Platform is driven to two-stage nonuniform rotation by force moment of any physical nature. This rotation includes acceleration and braking stages with abrupt change-over to braking in system equilibrium position. Device intended for method realization has platform with axis of rotation and body attachment assembly, as well as spring force mechanism. The latter is made in form of case with two pairs of springs positioned in it. One pair is manufactured as springs preliminarily compressed by adjustable stops and mounted for interaction with rod. Other pair of springs is installed with clearance relative to coupling rod, and it can be disconnected. EFFECT: higher accuracy of body inertia moment determination. 2 cl, 2 dwg
