FIELD: production of low molecular polyolefins; solution polymerization; gas phase polymerization. SUBSTANCE: polymerization is carried out with the help of catalyst. Said catalyst is prepared by interaction of dispersion of magnesium alcoholate (having particles in size from 100 to 3000 nm) with compound of metal being chosen of Ti, Zr, V and Cr followed by interaction with chloro-containing organoaluminium compound. This catalyst has high activity in the presence of molecular weight regulators (e.g. hydrogen). EFFECT: improved efficiency of the method, improved quality of desired product. 7 cl, 1 tbl
