The operating circuit has a DC source coupled to a push-pull generator with a centre tap connected to one lamp electrode and 2 outer terminals, one of which is connected to the other lamp electrode. A smoothing filter (C4) is connected between the outer terminals, with an active wave filter having at least one capacitive pumping path with a pumping capacitor (C1,C2) for energy feedback to the smoothing capacitor. A trapeze capacitor (CT1,CT2) is connected between the pumping path and on of the outer terminals of the push-pull generator.
