The device has a reciprocally movable switching plate (13) part inside a housing with an elongated hole (33) which accepts a tilting switching part (12) of the power switch (11). The switching plate part has a cam track (14) and a radial pin (24) attached to a pivot shaft (15) protrudes into the cam track for causing reciprocal motion of the plate part when the switch shaft is rotated. A switch toggle (16) protrudes into the region of a socket (17) so that when the switch is switched on a plug which is inserted cannot be removed and a plug cannot be inserted if there is no inserted plug present.
