The top surface of the projectile has a central longitudinal through hole forming the damming channel (1). On the outer periphery of the projectile is at least one sealing and/or guide ring. The outer surface of the projectile body (4) corresponds to that of a circular cylinder, and the dia. of the inlet aperture (2) of the damming channel corresponds to that of the circular cylinder. An outlet (3) of the damming channel is closed from the rear by a closure piston which is also separable from it rearwards. The closure piston is formed as a plug inserted in the rear section (3) of the damming channel. USE/ADVANTAGE - For firing a projectile out of a ram accelerator in which the damming channel, instead of being formed around the projectile, passes centrally through the projectile body, so that the latter has the shape of a hollow cylinder.
