The invention discloses a device for sorting and storing household refuse characterised in that it comprises several front orifices (1-2-3-4-5) each dimensioned for receiving one type of preselected waste, a set of removable storage containers (10-11-12-18-19-20-21) and a press mechanism (6-7-8-9-13-16-17-22) actuated by a control means (14) enabling the separate reduction of the waste volume in at least one and not the whole set of containers.
