Data storage structure for sequential transactions

Data is recorded in the order in which it is generated in an explicit form which is not restricted by record/item structures. Data items are stored between delimit symbols, eg BEGIN and END in a form which allows the file to be read directly without knowledge of a database record/item structure. The resulting data can then be easily analysed. If new data types are required there is no need to redesign the data structure. The system may be used for recording data generated at a POS terminal.
