PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a cutter from being cut erroneously due to improper positioning of paper. ;SOLUTION: An image storage 13 of a device body 11 stores the image of properly positioned paper picked up by an image pickup device 10 for each step of sheet cutting after an image processing process by an image processing device 17. During a cutting process, the image on the paper placed on a cutter is picked up by the image pickup device 10, and image-processed by the image processing device 17 to compare the image with a stored image by a CPU 15. When the images are met, a knife operating circuit is 'closed' through a knife operating circuit switching signal transmitting means 18, a knife operation switch SW1 is turned ON to operate a knife for paper cutting. On the other hand, the images are not met, the knife operating circuit maintains an 'open' condition by a signal from the knife operation circuit switching signal transmitter 18 so that the knife may not operate to prevent generation of erroneous cutting even if the knife operating switch SW1 is turned ON. At this time, an alarm means 21 positively-notifies an operator of erroneous positioning. This operation is performed for each cutting step, thus it is possible to prevent generation of erroneous cutting.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
