PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator for a desk or the like, which occupies little space, simplifies mechanism and facilitates elevating/lowering operation. SOLUTION: This elevator is provided with a fixing part 1 provided with a pair of right/left guide rails 4 whose medium parts and lower tips are mutually connected with connecting rods 5 and 6, a movable part 2 provided with a pair of right/left movable legs 8 which are provided vertically and freely movable with respect to the guide rails and a connecting member 7 fixed across between the upper parts of the movable legs and a mechanism for elevating and lowering a movable part. A direct acting type motor LM is housed in the member 7 to make an extending/reducing direction a right/left direction. Respectively one tips of first and second cables 27 and 28 are restrained to the upper parts of the guide rails 4, reversed by the first pulleys 12 of the legs 8 to extend upward, and change their direction to be horizontal by second pulleys 30 and 31. The other tip of the first cable 27 is connected to the extensible rod 24 of the direct acting type motor as it is and the other tip of the second cable 28 is additionally reversed by a third pulley 32 and then connected to the extensible rod 24 of the direct acting type motor.
