PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance ink ejection performance by an arrangement wherein a specified relation is satisfied between the time required for a generated bubble to have a maximum volume and the time to be elapsed before the bubble having maximum volume disappears within a range where ink moves through process of generation, growth, contraction and extinction of bubble. ;SOLUTION: A bubble 20 generated at a heater section grows and contracts in the direction of arrow A after maximum volume is reached. Consequently, meniscus retracts as shown by arrow B on the orifice side. Besides, ink 10 moves in the direction of arrow C from the ink supply side on the right through action incident to contraction of the bubble 20. Movement of the meniscus or the ink 10 depends significantly on the contraction rate of the bubble 20. Generation and contraction rate of the bubble 20 is regulated such that a relation, 1≤td/ti≤3 is satisfied between the time ti required for the bubble 20 to have a maximum volume after generation and the time td to be elapsed before the bubble having maximum volume disappears.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
