PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the loss rate of a cell for an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switch. ;SOLUTION: An input buffer controller 24 sends the size of a logic buffer to be periodically determined to a routing table element 21 and lowers the cell loss rate by dynamically changing the logic buffer size in an input buffer 22. The input buffer controller 24 for preparing the size signal of the logic buffer is composed of a backward pressure signal counting part 25 for counting the number of generated backward pressure signals, an arithmetic part 26 for calculating the allocation size of the logic buffer while utilizing information received from this backward pressure signal counting part and the routing table element, and a control signal generating part 27 for generating the size control signal of the logic buffer to be sent to the routing table element.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
