PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the maximum bending stress in the elasto-plastic region of a circular pipe on the basis of an acoustic elasticity method, by obtaining the maximum bending stress on the basis of a previously obtained stress-strain conformance function, from the total strain in the axial direction which is obtained by solving a specified relational expression. ;SOLUTION: In a main microcomputer 17, a relational expression storing means 18 is installed which stores a relational expression, a stress-strain conformance function as far as the plastic region of material in a circular pipe to be bent, an acoustic elastic constant, an elastic coefficient, etc. A first analyzing means 19 is installed which substitutes measured values into a relational expression, solves the relational expression making the total strain in the axial direction unkown quantity, and obtains the total strain in the axial direction. The values are double refraction amount of both part positions to which the maximum tensile stress and the maximum compressive stress are applied in a pipe to be measured in the state that input bending is applied. A second analyzing means 20 is installed which obtains the maximum bending stress from the stress-strain conformance function, on the basis of the obtained total strain in the axial direction. An output means 21 is installed which outputs the total strain in the axial direction and the maximum bending stress obtained by both of the analyzing means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
