PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cultivating box capable of cultivating a high quality Chinese yam at any place and making the harvesting work extremely easy, and a method for cultivating the Chinese yam, etc., by using the same box. SOLUTION: This cultivating box for Chinese yarn, etc., consisting of a heat insulating material, is provided by combining a box body 11 having an opening 11a at the one end of the bottom part with a lid material 12 for closing the box body 12. A culturing soil material M1 is poured into the box body 11, and a seed yam P is planted at the opening part 11a side. A growing soil material M2 is poured over it, and the box is closed by fitting the lid material 12. Then the box body 11 is made as upside down and placed as inclined to make the seed yam P side up for growing a new yam in the growing soil material M2 .
