PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject additive capable of showing defoaming properties and providing excellent printed images, by including a compound which contains a specific repeating unit and is blocked with a fluoroalkyl group at one end. ;SOLUTION: This additive comprises a compound in which one end of a molecular chain containing a repeating unit of a substitutable alkylene oxide is blocked with a fluoroalkyl, preferably a compound of the formula R¹-A-B-D_n- R² (R¹ is an alkyl in which a part or the whole of hydrogen atoms are fluorinated; A is a single bond or an alkylene; B is an ester bond, a sulfide bond, etc.; D is an ethylene oxide, unit, etc.; (n) is an integer of 1-200; R² is an R¹-A-B or an alkyl). The additive is mixed with a water-soluble dye and an aqueous medium to give a recording solution.
