PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment solution application device which reduces a difference between the time required for storing a pretreatment solution and the time required for heating dry means to a target temperature, and to provide an image formation system or a pretreatment solution application method.;SOLUTION: A pretreatment solution application device includes: application means which applies a pretreatment solution to a surface of a recording medium; and dry means which dries the pretreatment solution applied to the surface of the recording medium. The application means includes: a storage part which stores the pretreatment solution; an application part which applies the stored pretreatment solution to the surface of the recording medium; and a detection part which detects a storage amount of the stored pretreatment solution. The dry means includes: a heating roller which contacts with the surface of the recording medium; and a heating part which heats the heating roller to a target temperature. The pretreatment solution application device controls timing that starts heating of the heating roller on the basis of the storage amount detected by the detection part when the heating roller is heated by using the heating part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
