PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of absence of an established sure technique capable of effectively preventing the rust generated by corrosion of a central reservoir and a water supply line of tap water, to be carried out in good economic efficiency in the present condition, and no indication as the concrete solving method. ;SOLUTION: This porous ceramic is obtained by mixing and kneading a powder of sandstone comprising feldspars consisting essentially of anorthite containing fossils of microorganisms comprising ancient micro plant and micro creature, and quartz, and the powder comprising a glass powder and a clayey material, and sintering and compacting the mixed and kneaded powders. The porous ceramic is arranged in a water tank or the like, and feed water is brought into contact with the porous ceramic and flowed, or circulated to be brought into contact with the porous ceramic, to allow the dissolved oxygen and remaining chloride in the fed water to be adsorbed, and a heavy metal ion to be reduced, to design to remove red water formed by the rust of a line wall and to prevent the generation thereof. The life of the efficacy thereof is evaluated by a measurement of an electric conductivity because a constant reduction current is passed while activities for adsorbing and consuming the dissolved oxygen and the activities for adsorbing the chlorine are recognized.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
