PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an entire device to be constructed at low cost and in a small and good appearance and to surely maintain predetermined normal cloth feed even when the device is used over a long period by making effective use of a mechanism originally installed for the feed motion of an upper feed dog. ;SOLUTION: This sewing machine has an upper feed dog 8 attached to the lower end of a vertically slidable and longitudinally oscillatable upper feed rod 7 passed through the bottom wall part of a sewing-machine arm 1 and projected downward. Of a longitudinal oscillating mechanism and a vertical oscillating mechanism which are connected to the top of the upper feed rod 7 and interlocked with an upper shaft 9 inside the sewing-machine arm 1 so that the upper feed dog 8 is put into elliptical motion along the direction (a) to feed cloth, the longitudinal oscillating mechanism has its longitudinal drive shaft extended, and an auxiliary feeder 16 comprising an upper roller 13 and a lower roller 14 disposed behind the feed dog 8 is driven by the reciprocating rotation of the extended longitudinal drive shaft 39A.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
