PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow smooth movement even on any river bottoms. SOLUTION: A floating travel device for use in river work has a submerged part 1 that sinks and floats between the surface and the bottom of a river and an unsunk floating part 2. The submerged part 1 includes a river bottom travel mechanism 5 fitted with a crawler 22 and a float 3. The floating travel device causes the submerged part 1 to sink and float by means of the float 3 and moves on the bottom of the river by means of the river bottom travel device 5. The floating travel device has at the submerged part 1 a traveling floating face 43 having on its inner surface an inclined face with an upgrade toward the traveling direction of the crawler 22. When the submerged part 1 travels on a soft river bottom by means of the crawler 22, a traveling floating face 43 prevents the submerged part 1 from sinking into the soft river bottom.
