An absorbent body is disclosed, in particular for diapers, sanitary towels, panties protections and the like. The absorbent body (10) has a base layer (11) made of hydrophilic fibres and provided with passages (13). On one side of the base layer (11) lies an absorbent layer (14) made of hydrophilic fibres. The absorbent layer (14) engages the passages (13) with projections formed by its fibrous material. The thickness of the absorbent layer (14) in the area of the passages (13) and of the projections (15) is at the maximum the same as the thickness of the rest of the absorbent layer (14).
