The present invention relates to a machine for counting and controlling banknotes, for performing automatic deposits. The machine comprises: a banknote supplying station; a pulling unit, arranged downstream of said banknote supplying station and operating on individual banknotes along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of a said banknote; a banknote conveyor unit, for conveying said banknotes along a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal extension of said banknotes, to a banknote counting and controlling station, which drives a banknote switching device, adapted to selectively supply said banknotes to a counted bank note collecting zone and to a rejected banknote collecting zone.
