Liq. is sepd. into permeate and concentrate fractions by multiple membranes mounted in cassettes. The cassettes are assembled as a stack together with manifolds which supply the feed and remove the prods. Flow regulating plates are sandwiched between adjacent cassettes and give a personality to the stack. For example the plates may configure the stack so that all the cassettes are in parallel, are in series or a series/parallel configuration.
