In a known method and device for placing cards (12) on a carrier (24) at least one foil is detachably secured on the carrier and simultaneously forms at least one card-holder holding at least one card. The object of the invention is to improve the known method and device to the effect that the cards can be secured easily and rapidly to the carrier without becoming unintentionally detached therefrom and such that they can easily be removed from the carrier without damaging it. According to the invention, an upper part (23) of the card-holder (21), which part overlaps the card, projects on at least one of its sides over its connection (27, 28) to the carrier (24) or to a lower part (22) of the card-holder such that this upper part (23) can be removed in order to release the card from the carrier (24) or the lower part (22).
