An automatic umbrella includes a central shaft pivotallysecured with a plurality of ribs on the shaft and a handlevertically slidably secured with a push button which can bepushed upwardly for opening the umbrella as urged by an openingspring retained in the shaft and may be pushed downwardly forclosing the umbrella as effected by a closing spring retained inthe shaft for preventing a confusing or false operation whenextending or folding the umbrella.
