The invention relates to an apparatus for feedinguntied bunches (1), consisting of a number ofroundwood logs or the like, while maintaining asubstantially bunched-up condition, in thedirection of the longitudinal axis of the bunch,intermittently into a strander (2) or the like. Theapparatus includes at least one intermittent feeder (3,4), mounted on the supply line of the apparatusand adapted to grab a bunch (1) present on thesupply line for carrying the same through a fixeddistance (a) in the feeding direction of saidsupply line, and said intermittent feeder (3, 4) beingprovided with at least one gripper element (5),applying the actual feeding movement to thebunch (1) and compressing the bunch for theduration of its passage crosswise relative to thelengthwise direction of the bunch, for eliminatingrelative movement between roundwood logs orthe like present in the bunch (1) during thecourse of a passage.
