The invention relates to nucleic acids and a human type 3 (hRyRe) ryanodine receptor, chimeric ryanodine receptors with fractions of the human receptor and to a method for the production of said proteins. The invention also relates to the detection of ryanodine receptors in human tissue to diagnose pathological states and to methods for identifying hRyRe activators or inhibitors.
