FRUIT TREE BUDDING CONTROL METHOD AND APPARATUS

A system and method for saving crops by preventing premature bud formation on various agriculturally-valuable flora. The system comprises a subterranean closed-loop conduit (19) having a high pressure region (24) and a low pressure region (83) containing distribution lines, wherein the conduit (19) contains a coolant. The oolant is circulated through the closed conduit loop (19) by means of a compressor (42) having an inlet and outlet, wherein the compressor (42) inlet is in contact with the low pressure region (83) and the compressor (42) outlet is in contact with high pressure region (24). The conduit (19) includes at least one throttle (37) on the upstream side of a distribution line through which the coolant expands and exert upon the soil. A heat exchanger (93) is included to assist in the removal of excess heat generated from the system. Finally, the system includes a root interfacing means located between the throttle (37) and the inlet of the compressor (42).
