Branch History Table

In the branch processing unit of the present invention, the branch history table is accessed by the branch instruction address associated with the scanned branch instruction before the complete address is calculated. The branch history table is divided into a first memory array associated with even address numbers and a second memory array associated with odd numbered instruction addresses.
