The procedure uses continuous adhesive strips (5) applied to opposite sides of the packages, with perforation lines made across the strips at regular intervals by punches (15) actuated by a sensor so that the lines occur between one group and the next. The first group (L1) is then advanced on the conveyor at a speed (V2) higher than that of the following group, so that the joined strips separate along the perforated lines.
