The head section (1) of the device comprises a shaft (2) with a T-shaped cross-section extending in the device length direction. Inwards pointing holder profiles are provided in opposing inner walls (2a) of the shaft. A wiper blade (4) made from rubber sponge or similar material is held in place by a bracket comprising two plastic holder strips (6,7) urged against opposite width sides of the blade and having length direction profiles along their outer surfaces. The bracket is slid sideways into the shaft so that its profiles engage with the holder profiles on the inside of this shaft. Two separate holder strips are provided, the first of which (6) is a single-piece moulding that has several interspaced stoppers with relatively thick heads (9), whilst the second strip (7) contains holes (11) which form a press-fit bond with the stoppers in the first strip. Holes (13) in the wiper blade allow the stoppers in the first strip to pass through from one side of the blade to the holes in the second strip on the opposite side.
