PROCESS FOR PURIFICATION OF A 69000 DALTON ANTIGENIC PROTEIN FROM BORDETELLA PERTUSSIS

A method is provided for extracting and purifying a protein having an apparent molecular weight of about 69,000 Daltons from the outer membrane of Bordetella pertussis bacteria. This method consists of purifying 69,000 dalton proteins by inactivating Bordetella pertussis cells with bacteriostatic agents, repeat extraction, and chromatofocusing after dye ligand chromatography from the extract. This method improves the yield and stability of 69,000 Dalton proteins.
