The metallic container is manufactured by shaping a tubular body (10) with a polygonal cross section delimiting side faces (12) connected by rounded corners. Near one end of the body and on each of the corners is formed a radially projecting metal expansion strip (18). A recess (20) with a fallen edge (22) extending it is formed on the body. A metallic face (24) is crimped on the fallen edge to form a bottom of the packaging. The recess is formed so as to be connected to the rest of the body by an inclined connecting part (20L) spaced axially from the metallic strip by a distance (D) of between zero and 3 mm. On the second end of the body is formed a fallen edge (16) and another metallic face is crimped on this to form a top of the container.
