Method of manufacturing a multiband (10) of optical fibers (1), separable into at least two ribbons, comprising: a first step of producing a multiband (10) comprising said fibers side by side, parallel, substantially in a same plane defining the faces (19a, 19b) of said multiband, embedded inside a common matrix (15, 16), by coating at least one coating layer on the fibers making the multiband then by thermosetting of said layer, and a second step of producing at least one preferential breaking line between two neighboring optical fibers, comprising at least one notch (1 1 a, 1 1 b) in the coating layer, parallel to the axis X of the multiband optical fibers, in a plane (P0) perpendicular to the faces of the ribbon, substantially median with respect to said neighboring optical fibers, by a notching device comprising a notching means (17a, 17b) of at least one of the faces of multiband.
