PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new sizing agent, having excellent sizing effects under conditions of high temperatures and pH within a wide range and excellent in storage stability at a high concentration by dispersing a composition containing an alkenylsuccinic acid in water with a specific dispersing agent. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective sizing agent is obtained by dispersing a composition containing an alkenylsuccinic acid obtained from a reactional product of a 12-18C branched inner olefin with maleic anhydride in an amount of ≥25 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. solid content of an emulsion sizing agent in water with an anionic polymer type emulsification dispersing agent or the dispersing agent and an emulsifying agent (preferably polyoxyethylene nonyl phenyl ether phosphoric acid ester). The solid concentration is ≥25wt.%.
