PURPOSE:To print information having different linear densities within a page. CONSTITUTION:The selection of plural secondary BDT signals generated by a laser printer 2 and having different periods and the control of a laser light quantity, are directly executed with a control signal from a host system 1, the host system 1 generates video data in a period corresponding to the linear density while the selection of the secondary BDT signal and the control of the laser light quantity are executed according to the linear density of printing data. Thus, on the side of the host system 1, the selection of the period of the BDT signal of the laser printer 2 and the control of the laser light quantity are directly executed, so that the linear density for printing within a page can be instantaneously converted, as well.
