PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the safety of a bicycle and to prevent a traffic accident by forming a saddle post with an elevating mechanism and by operating the elevating mechanism by means of an operating lever arranged in a handle, keeping the saddle at a suitable height while the bicycle is running and lowering the saddle position by the operating lever so that both legs of a driver can touch the ground.;SOLUTION: A saddle elevating device is formed by supporting a saddle 3 by means of an elevating mechanism 2 fixed to a frame 1 and disposed between a frame installing base and a saddle installing base. Inside the saddle elevating device is provided with a fixed cylinder and an elevating cylinder forming a driving room expansible/contractible in the axial direction, a resilient spring disposed within the driving room in order to energize the elevating cylinder upward, liquid for sustaining the load imposed on the elevating cylinder, a liquid tank, which is connectively arranged in the driving room via a closing and opening valve for flowing the liquid into/from the driving room in correspondence to the ascent and descent of the elevating cylinder, a lever 41 disposed at a suitable place of a handle of the bicycle, and an operating mechanism for communicating a control cable connected to the lever 41 with the closing and opening valve of the driving room.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
