PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject coating material composition capable of forming a coating film excellent in an anti-corrosive property, without using a lead compound giving adverse effects on the environment, by compounding a specified salt compound of bismuth with an organic acid as an anticorrosive property- imparting agent. ;SOLUTION: This coating material composition contains a salt compound of bismuth with an organic acid and expressed by the formula: A3Bi, A2BiO2 or ABiO [A is a residue derived from an organic acid of R1-CO-NH-R2-X, R3-NH-CO-R2-X or H2N-SO3H; R1 is a 1-12C alkyl or a 1-12C aryl; R2 is a 1-12C aklylene or a 1-12C arylene; R3 is H, a 1-12C alkyl, or the like; X is carboxyl, or the like] in an amount of, preferably, 0.1-5.0 wt.% converted to bismuth metal based on the solid resin component of the coating material.
