PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform automatic singing by using the data of a small size. ;SOLUTION: A sequencer 10 specifies the voice generation timing and a pitch at every character from the lyrics data and the performance data in the 'KARAOKE (orchestration without lyrics)' music data, and instructs a DSP (digital signal processor) 8 to generate a singing voice signal answering to its character at the time of becoming the sound generation timing of a certain character. The DSP 8 reads out a formant parameter answering to the character from a hard disk 4, and synthesizes so as to coincide with a pitch, a level and a voice generation time instructed from the sequencer 10. In such a manner, a voice signal of required pitch, level is generated from the lyrics data, the performance data and the formant data to be outputted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
