PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic matter treatment apparatus capable of heightening the precision in determining of water content for the range necessary to be precise and improving the treatment performance. ;SOLUTION: A water content sensor S installed in a treatment tank 1 is constituted of a heat generating means whose heat generation is variable and a temperature sensing means for sensing temperature increase corresponding to the water content of a carrier 4 due to the heat generation. This organic matter treatment apparatus is provided with a control means (a control substrate 28) which operates the heat generating means to generate heat at prescribed low heat generation amount for a prescribed time while assuming the case that the water content of the carrier 4 is the minimum at the time of detecting the water content, detects the water content of the carrier 4 based on the increased value of the temperature determined by the temperature sensing means, further operates the heat generating means to generate heat at a prescribed high heat generation amount for a prescribed time in the case the water content is a prescribed value or higher, and detects the water content of the carrier 4 based on the increased of the temperature determined by the temperature sensing means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
