PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signature collating method by which highly accurate collation of signatures is performed by registering plural sample signatures as reference signatures, calculating collated values between the inputted signature and respective reference signatures and judging authenticity based on a position of the inputted signature on a space to be extended by respective collated values and a recording medium in which a program for collating the signatures is recorded.;SOLUTION: N (N is integer ≥2) pieces of reference signature data are preliminarily registered in a reference signature file 10, when the signatures are collated, N pieces of the reference signature data is read from the reference signature file 10, signature data as writing information of a handwritten signature is inputted and normalized (steps A1 to A3), N pieces of degrees of difference between the inputted signature data and N pieces of the reference signature data is calculated by comparing the normalized inputted signature data with each of N pieces of the reference signature data (a step A4) and the authenticity of the inputted signature is judged based on a coordinate position of the inputted signature data in a N-dimensional space to be extended by the degrees of difference between N pieces of the reference signature data and the inputted signature data (a step A5).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
