The invention concerns a method of producing moulded bodies (18) provided with printed labels according to the so-called in-mould labelling (IML) method, in which printed labels (23) are produced by printing a printed layer (14) onto an oriented carrier foil (10) made of a thermoplastic polymer. The printed labels (23) are placed in a mould (16) and connected in a material-bonded manner to a moulded body (18) which is introduced into the mould (16, 24) and is moulded at high temperatures. The surface of the printed moulded body is provided with a high-gloss surface by coating the labels with a transparent covering layer (20) after the printed layer (14) has been applied and before the labels are placed in the mould (16, 24).
