A compound of general formula I:-Q-R-X (I)wherein Q is a substituted or unsubstituted furanyl,imidazolyl, pyrrolyl or thiopheneyl group, R is CR[err]-CR[err],(cis)CR[err] = CR[err], or (trans)-CR[err]=CR[err], X is COOR[err] or NR[err]R[err],and R[err]-R[err] are each, independently, H, an alkyl or an arylgroup and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, aredescribed for use in topical treatments of skin conditionswhich involve an overactive immune response, or which areresponsive to UV irradiation. Pharmaceutical compositionsof the compound of general formula I are also described.
