A centrifuge tube and adaptor apparatus is provided which facilitates separation of biological materialsand permits easy extraction of the fraction after centrifugation. The tube (2) is a deformable tube with awide upper chamber (6) and a narrowed lower portion (14). The tube is supported within the centrifuge rotoror within another container (10) within the centrifuge by a liquid support medium (12), which surroundsand supports the narrow portion of the tub, and thus prevents the tube from collapsing during high speedcentrifugation.
