The present invention relates to a method of determining an individual'spredisposition to breast cancer, development of breast cancer, protectionagainst breast cancer and/or responsiveness to therapy for breast cancer. Themethod comprises the step of determining the androgen receptor genotype at theCAG repeat locus of an individual, or at a locus in linkage disequilibriumwith the CAG repeat locus, thereby determining an individual's predispositionto breast cancer, development of breast cancer, protection against breastcancer and/or responsiveness to therapy for breast cancer.
