The unstacking device is for flat cutouts stacked in blocks on a pallet with flat interlays inserted. It has a three-dimensionally controllable gripping head (4) to which an insertion tool (5) is attached approx. horizontally. The tool has a sharp insertion point (6). The tool is moved horizontally to bring it under the block (2) of cutouts to be removed. A sensor device (10) is fitted to detect badly gripped blocks before they are processed further. It acts with a reflecting element (11) on the underside of the insertion tool.
