A quilting machine which comprises a frame (1) composed of a first beam (2), arranged horizontally above the cloth (7) to be quilted, and of a second beam (3) arranged below the cloth, the beams being provided with respective guides (8, 9; 21, 22) for the carriages that support the sewing head (11) and respectively the hook assembly of at least one stitcher (12), characterized in that in order to move the sewing head (11) and the hook assembly (17) of the stitcher (12) there are respective linear motors, in which the inductor elements (15) are arranged on the upper beam (2) and lower beam (3), respectively, and the armature windings (16) are arranged on the carriages (10, 18) that support the sewing head and the hook (17) respectively.
