BILATERAL OPTICAL AMPLIFIER FOR BILATERAL OPTICAL TRANSMISSION NETWORK OF WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXING

PURPOSE: A bilateral optical amplifier for a bilateral optical transmission network of wavelength division multiplexing is provided to constantly maintain optical gain and gain flatness of each channel of a bilateral optical amplifier even though channels are coupled and divided. CONSTITUTION: A bilateral optical amplifier for a bilateral optical transmission network of wavelength division multiplexing includes a bilateral optical amplifier(410), a measurement and a controller(450). The bilateral optical amplifier amplifies a wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) input light signal for forward transmission and a WDM input light signal for reverse transmission. The measurement measures a total input power and a total output power of the bilateral optical amplifier. The controller measures a gain by using the total input power and the total output power, and controls by feedback in order for constantly maintaining the gain of the bilateral optical amplifier according to the difference of the measured gain and the prior gain.
