APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING SCREEN DISPLAY DEPENDING ON PROGRAM RATING IN PICTURE IN PICTURE MODE AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling screen display depending on a program rate in picture in picture mode and a method thereof are provided to control the display of the main/auxiliary screen at the same time. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling screen display depending on a program rating in picture in picture mode includes a switch(206), a controller(207), a main screen signal processor(209), a PIP signal processor(210), and a multiplexor(211). The switch(206) receives the main video signal, and an auxiliary video signal and switches the main/auxiliary screen video signal according to a PIP switching control signal. The controller(207) receives the main/auxiliary screen video signal, extracts and stores the program rating data, compares the preset watch rating(Go) with a main/auxiliary program rates(Gm/Gs), and generates a main/auxiliary screen block control signal, the PIP switching control signal and the multiplexor control signal. The main screen signal processor(209) blocks the output when the main screen block control signal is input. The PIP signal processor(210) blocks the output when the auxiliary screen block control signal is input. The multiplexor(211) selects one input signal according to the multiplexor control signal.
