The invention relates to a tool engraving of a forming tool for forming by means of the active medium, the forming tool having a pressure medium supply for the active medium and an engraving corresponding to the desired final contour of the workpiece. In the generic forming process in hydroforming as well as in hydroforming, the pressure of the pressure medium is used to mold the wall of the workpiece to the engraving of the tool. When the workpiece is removed, the pressure medium can reach the engraving of the tool, so that when the subsequent workpieces are formed in the area in which pressure medium adheres to the engraving, there is no contact between the engraving and the workpiece wall, which causes undesirable deformations on the workpiece. According to the task, the tool engraving was provided with microstructures that are suitable for absorbing the active medium adhering between the wall of the workpiece and the engraving. This avoids undesired deformations of the workpiece. The engravings can also serve as a lubricant depot, thus minimizing friction and improving the emergency running properties of the tool.
